I finished the last Harry Potter book at 10:38 this morning. I got the book at 1:30 am (after 2 hours of line waiting, meeting new people, and Harry Potter mania) and managed to start the book at 2:00am. I read it in 8.5 hours. I cried, laughed, smiled, frowned, yelled, muttered, and any other emotion that you think about when an amazing story finally ends meets your brain.
I have read Harry Potter for the past 10 years, I feel in love with this series, and it took over a major part of my life. And now it is done. The book was amazing, as they all are. Different obviously, but just as wonderful, and just as painful. We have watched these characters grow up before our eyes, and I don't think any of us are truly ready to give them up yet.
I'm sitting here and looking at all seven books, I can remember when, and where I got every single one of them. I can remember what I was wearing, how long it took to read, and all the emotions that ran through me when I read each page, word for word, drinking the story in with everything I had.
I do not consider myself and expert, but out of every one I know (personally), I am the most knowledgeable in the world of Harry Potter. Theories, hopes, dreams, fears all came true in this one book. And though DH is different, sadder, darker, than almost all others, it is the one that holds my heart. Though PoA is still my favorite (what can I say I'm a marauder lover) DH is the one that I will remember, the story that outspoke all others.
In July of 1997 I began and finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. In July of 2007 I began and finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The books are finished, there will be no more published words of Harry James Potter and his amazing friends. But though the books are finished, who says they have to be done with. I for one am going to read each book over again as many times as I want too, and I hope for you to do the same. I think that's what I am going to do right now.
7-21-07 End of an Era.
But not the end of our love and loyalty to the world of Harry Potter
Sincerely Yours,
padfootwolf

Let us to it pell-mell;
If not to heaven, then hand in hand to hell.
